“Education is a lifelong journey
whose destination expands as you travel.- Jim Stovall”
The above expression just popped up in my mind as I think of an interesting topic to post. Frankly,I wasn’t even good at talking to people and just chose to spend time in seclusion. It was when I stepped into college, that I started coming out from my shell.
Growing up in a province can be troublesome but it didn’t stop me from being competitive as those students in the city. The Philippines is well-known as one of the English Speaking countries in Asia aside of the enticing tropical spots that it has. You can sound smart by flawlessly speaking the language and promotes good vibes with whoever you are talking to.
During my early college years,I suffered from tremendous grammar traumata and tons of mispronounced words. Every time that my name is aired on class it really boosts my anxiety level to its panic stage. As I rose from my chair, my sweat was dripping off the hook and my broken voice filled the deafening silence of the room.At that time, all I can see was disappointment painted on my teacher's face. It's not that I got the wrong answer but it was delivered in grammatically-confused- stammered sentences.
Luckily, something struck my mind and gave me a ticket to salvation. I said to myself, "I may not be a native English speaker but I will do all my best to be like one".In conclusion, I think all my efforts didn't come out in vain. Just keep on learning new things because along the way we may pick up ideas that enable us to upgrade ourselves,
English was a boring subject for me before...But now? I dont think so, it is one of the things that can put me on top of everything.
Loved this piece. Found it interesting to see things from other's perspectives. Wrote about it on my blog: http://newtoneducationalworks.blogspot.com
